Plus costs $49, Pro $79 and Enterprise $145 per month at the same contact level. Those are the figures ActiveCampaign's own pricing selector showed on October 27, 2026, in US dollars. They rise with the contact count: at 10,000 contacts the same four plans cost $149, $189, $375 and $589 per month. Contact volume, billing cadence, extra seats and add-ons decide what you actually pay. Of course, the headline price is only the first line of the invoice.

For a marketing operations buyer, the important question isn't which plan has the lowest headline price. It's whether the tier can run the required journeys, send the planned volume, support the people operating the stack and connect cleanly to sales. A cheaper tier that can't execute a handoff or stops campaign sends at the contact cap can cost more operationally than the subscription saves.

On this page

How much does ActiveCampaign cost in 2026?

How does ActiveCampaign pricing change with contact count?

How does ActiveCampaign count contacts for billing?

What are ActiveCampaign's email send limits and overage fees?

Which ActiveCampaign features cost extra?

Is ActiveCampaign billed monthly or annually?

What would an ActiveCampaign subscription cost for my team?

Which ActiveCampaign plan should I choose?

What should I verify before signing an ActiveCampaign contract?

Frequently asked questions about ActiveCampaign pricing

The short version

Starter is a basic email automation tier with five actions per automation; Plus removes that action cap.

Pro adds advanced segmentation, predictive content and attribution features; Enterprise adds SSO and dedicated support.

Newer accounts count all contact statuses toward the limit, not just subscribed contacts.

Email send allowances, CRM, SMS and transactional email need separate budget checks.

Get a dated USD quote at your actual contact count before approving an annual commitment.

How much does ActiveCampaign cost in 2026?

ActiveCampaign sells four base Email plans: Starter, Plus, Pro and Enterprise. Each plan's price rises with the band, but not evenly. The table lists the monthly price, billed yearly, for five of the bands as the selector displayed them on October 27, 2026. The calculator below it covers every band up to 25,000 contacts.

Plan, USD per month billed yearly

1,000 contacts

5,000 contacts

10,000 contacts

25,000 contacts

50,000 contacts

Starter

$15

$79

$149

$391

Not offered

Plus

$49

$145

$189

$389

$609

Pro

$79

$205

$375

$629

$969

Enterprise

$145

$375

$589

$879

$1,169

Three patterns matter for budgeting. First, the cheapest plan stops being cheap: Starter costs $15 at 1,000 contacts but $149 at 10,000, roughly ten times the entry price for ten times the contacts. Second, the gap between Starter and Plus narrows as the list grows. At 10,000 contacts Plus costs $40 more than Starter, and at 25,000 contacts the selector shows Starter at $391 against $389 for Plus. If your database is that large, Starter has no price advantage and carries the five-action automation limit. Third, Starter is capped at 25,000 contacts, so a list above that needs Plus or higher.

Monthly price per plan between the 1,000 and 25,000 contact bands, read from the pricing selector on October 27, 2026.

Contacts: 10000 contacts

ActiveCampaign Starterper month, billed yearly$149 per month

ActiveCampaign Plusper month, billed yearly$189 per month

ActiveCampaign Proper month, billed yearly$375 per month

ActiveCampaign Enterpriseper month, billed yearly$589 per month

Monthly price on yearly billing, from ActiveCampaign's pricing selector on October 27, 2026. Each contact count rounds up to the next band the selector offers. Excludes add-ons and extra seats.

Monthly sends scale with the band as well. At 10,000 contacts the selector lists 100,000 sends on Starter and Plus, 120,000 on Pro and 150,000 on Enterprise. Those totals follow from the send multipliers covered in the send-limit section below. Model the curve before you commit, not after the first renewal.

Starter: lowest entry cost, narrow automation scope

Starter covers the essentials: contact management, email campaigns, forms, site tracking and simple marketing automation. The important restriction is five actions per automation. A short welcome sequence might fit. A nurture program that branches by product interest, waits for behavior, tags contacts, sends different messages and alerts sales may not.

Starter includes one user and lets you buy one additional seat, according to the vendor's plan overview. It has a maximum of 25,000 contacts, and the overview adds that existing customers don't qualify for it. The $15 headline assumes 1,000 contacts. As the band table above shows, the price rises quickly as the licensed contact band grows.

Here's a quick test: if you can't describe your nurture flow in five steps, you've already outgrown Starter. Choose Starter when email is the main job, workflows are deliberately short and the operator count is small. Skip it when your campaign needs complex branching, an SMS add-on or the enhanced CRM pipeline. Those requirements change the tier decision before you calculate the invoice. That's the trade you're making at $15: you're paying for simplicity, and you'll feel it the day a flow needs more than five steps.

Plus: the practical automation baseline

Plus removes the five-action restriction and adds landing pages, site messages, standard segmentation and cross-channel marketing. For marketing ops teams running welcome, reactivation, event follow-up and lead-nurture programs, that difference is often more important than the $34 monthly gap between Starter and Plus at 1,000 contacts.

Plus is the plan most teams end up needing, yet it still includes one user. Additional seats can be purchased, but ActiveCampaign doesn't publish a seat price on its pricing page or in the plan overview. Budget a separate seat line instead of assuming every person on demand generation, lifecycle and RevOps can share the base subscription. Permissions matter too: the operator building a journey and the person approving a campaign shouldn't need to share credentials.

Plus is the first plan to consider if SMS or the enhanced CRM add-ons are in scope. However, availability doesn't mean included. An SMS campaign, a deal pipeline and a transactional receipt are distinct capabilities with separate commercial and operational dependencies. Get their add-on quotes separately, since what's included in the base price isn't what you'll be invoiced for.

Pro: orchestration, attribution and more operators

Pro is where you're paying for orchestration, not just volume. It adds three included users, advanced segmentation, predictive sending and conditional content, and attribution or conversion tracking capabilities shown in the official comparison. The plan is suited to teams coordinating several journeys, where the quality of events and CRM data matters as much as the ability to send emails.

A useful buying test is to trace one campaign from source to outcome. The team should be able to identify the landing-page conversion, the contact record, the automation branch, the sales handoff and the downstream conversion. Pro's richer reporting features only help if those source events are consistently captured and the integration mapping is maintained.

Pro's 12x contact-based monthly send allowance also gives more room than Plus at the same licensed contact count. That is a capacity allowance, not a deliverability guarantee. The operational work of suppressing invalid contacts, testing branches and watching handoff failures remains yours.

Enterprise: security, support and complex data models

Enterprise adds five included users, single sign-on, custom objects, premium segmentation and a dedicated account team in the public plan matrix. Its 15x monthly email send allowance is the largest of the four base tiers shown. Enterprise is worth evaluating when identity management, advanced object structure and cross-team governance are requirements rather than nice-to-have features.

Ask the vendor to demonstrate the exact objects, permissions and CRM integration needed for your account model. A feature appearing in a comparison table doesn't guarantee that your existing data schema or sales processes will work without configuration. Request the support scope, onboarding responsibilities and any implementation fees in writing. If you're not sure you need SSO or custom objects, you probably don't, and there's no prize for the bigger tier.

Enterprise's $145 entry price says little about a larger database: the same plan costs $589 per month at 10,000 contacts and $1,169 at 50,000. A realistic comparison needs the same contact band, users, add-ons, send volume and contract period across the quotes.

How does ActiveCampaign count contacts for billing?

Your account creation date changes which contacts count. ActiveCampaign's help center says accounts created on or after November 3, 2025 count all contacts toward their contact limit, regardless of list status. Accounts created on or before November 2, 2025 count only active contacts. This is a material difference for teams with large inactive, bounced or unsubscribed populations, and it's clearly the first thing to check on a new account.

For a new account, don't estimate the subscription using only the number of people who can receive a campaign. Audit the complete database you plan to store. Here's the practical version: what's stored and not archived is what's billed, so don't leave stale imports sitting around. That includes prospects held for CRM synchronization, unsubscribed people retained for suppression, unconfirmed records and contacts imported for future segmentation. Your legal retention and suppression rules still apply; reducing a bill must not lead to losing evidence needed to honor opt-outs.

ActiveCampaign says archived contacts don't count toward the contact limit. Archiving can therefore be relevant to the estimate, but it isn't a substitute for a documented retention policy. Before changing records, you'll want to check whether automations, reporting or downstream integrations rely on them, and export or retain records where appropriate.

What happens if the contact limit is reached?

The vendor says an account at its contact limit can't send email campaigns until the limit is increased. Existing automations can continue moving contacts through steps, but Send an email actions are skipped. That's why the contact limit is a production risk, not merely a procurement threshold. A scheduled launch can fail even if its creative, form and CRM fields are correct.

The account does not increase its contact limit automatically unless the auto-upgrade option is enabled. With auto-upgrade on, costs can change when the database grows. With it off, sending may stop at the cap. Neither setting is inherently correct, and indeed both can hurt: the right policy is one that has an owner, a budget threshold and an escalation path.

Contact cap can interrupt a campaign For new accounts, unsubscribed and bounced contacts still count toward the contact cap. At the cap, campaign sends can stop and automation email actions can be skipped. Set alerts and an explicit upgrade decision owner before a major launch.

The contact cap interrupts sending, so the upgrade decision needs an owner before a major import.

A contact-cap operating procedure

Before an import, ask the CRM administrator for the projected post-sync contact count. Compare it with the licensed cap and the next planned campaign. The marketing ops owner should check the count again after a partner upload, event list import or migration, because those events can change the database much faster than ordinary acquisition.

Create a weekly dashboard with current contacts, headroom, upcoming imports, projected send volume and the auto-upgrade setting. Escalate when the forecast threatens the cap before the next campaign. The budget owner should approve either a higher tier or a compliant cleanup plan. Record the decision and its date, so an interrupted send can be investigated without guessing who changed the account. It's cheap to check and it's expensive to skip.

What are ActiveCampaign's email send limits and overage fees?

ActiveCampaign's published rules for plans purchased on or after June 3, 2024 use 10x contacts for Starter and Plus, 12x for Pro, and 15x for Enterprise as the monthly marketing email allowance. These are sends, not unique recipients. A contact who receives multiple campaigns consumes multiple sends. Direct and automated marketing campaigns count; the vendor excludes one-to-one and transactional emails from this allowance.

At the 10,000-contact band, those multipliers translate into 100,000 monthly marketing sends on Starter or Plus, 120,000 on Pro and 150,000 on Enterprise, which matches what the pricing selector lists for that band. The help center also says plans bought between October 20, 2023 and June 2, 2024 use different multipliers, so an older account should check its own limit under Billing & Upgrade.

Plan

Published multiplier

Example allowance at 10,000 contacts

Starter

10x

100,000 sends

Plus

10x

100,000 sends

Pro

12x

120,000 sends

Enterprise

15x

150,000 sends

The official help center states an overage fee of $0.005 per email send beyond the allowance. For example, 2,000 excess sends would add $10 at the published per-send rate. ActiveCampaign says it won't disrupt service when you pass the limit and charges the overage instead, but email sending is turned off until the next month if the overage reaches three times your limit. In-app notices appear at 75%, 90% and 100% of capacity. The Primary Admin also gets an email at 75% and 100%. Forecast volume before a large campaign, and raise the limit from Billing & Upgrade if you expect to pass it. The limit resets on your billing-cycle date, not on the first of the calendar month.

Model sends, not just subscribers Estimate each planned broadcast, resend and automated message separately. Multiply expected recipients by messages per month, add a safety margin, then compare the total with the plan's allowance and overage rules.

A simple send-cap worksheet

For each campaign, record the audience size, planned frequency and estimated sends. Then add ongoing nurture emails and one-off event follow-ups. A team with a 10,000-contact database might plan one newsletter to 8,000 people, a second campaign to 5,000 and a lifecycle sequence to 2,000. The 15,000 planned sends are an illustrative calculation, well inside the 100,000 allowance of Starter or Plus at that band, and not an ActiveCampaign usage benchmark.

Use the worksheet to distinguish two separate failures. If you exceed the contact limit, the vendor may stop campaigns and skip automation email actions. If you exceed the email send allowance, overage fees can accrue and sending eventually stops at the vendor's stated threshold. Monitoring both controls prevents an invoice surprise and a missed handoff.

Which ActiveCampaign features cost extra?

ActiveCampaign's base Email subscription is only one part of the budget. ActiveCampaign sells optional SMS, enhanced CRM, transactional email and custom reporting capabilities. Availability differs by plan, and neither the pricing page nor the help center lists a USD price for any of them. Don't budget add-ons from memory. Get a dated quote for each one at the same billing cadence as the base plan, because you'll compare it with the base price later.

Additional requirement

Published packaging

What to request in the quote

SMS campaigns and automation

SMS add-on on Plus, Pro or Enterprise

Credits, sending country, registration and unused-credit policy

Deal pipelines and lead scoring

Enhanced CRM Pipelines add-on on Plus, Pro or Enterprise

Pipeline scope, seats, CRM ownership and data sync

Sales engagement

Enhanced CRM Sales Engagement add-on on Plus, Pro or Enterprise

One-to-one email features, users and sales process

Transactional email

Transactional Email add-on using Postmark

Monthly send volume, sender setup and separate billing

Custom reporting

Add-on on Plus and Pro; included in Enterprise

Report permissions, required metrics and implementation

SMS: plan eligibility, credits and registration

SMS isn't included simply because a tier supports multichannel marketing. The vendor says the SMS add-on requires Plus, Professional/Pro or Enterprise. It also says unused SMS credits don't roll over to the next month. US SMS messages use one credit per SMS in the vendor's supported-country table; MMS uses a different amount. ActiveCampaign doesn't publish the price per credit in its public pricing material, so ask for it in the quote.

For US recipients, the help center also requires A2P 10DLC registration. Include registration, consent capture, reply handling and opt-out behavior in the implementation plan. A marketing team shouldn't treat SMS as an extra button in an existing email journey. It's a channel with its own sender setup, audience permissions and monitoring needs.

CRM: contact records are not the same as deal pipelines

ActiveCampaign includes contact profiles and marketing-related CRM integrations in its Email plans. However, the vendor's current packaging presents Pipelines and Sales Engagement as enhanced CRM add-ons. Don't assume the base marketing subscription includes the deal-management workflow your sales team expects.

Map the handoff before buying: a form creates or updates a contact; a qualifying event changes a field; marketing assigns the lead; sales receives an owned deal or task; and the CRM returns a status. Decide whether the pipeline should live in ActiveCampaign or an existing sales CRM. Duplicating deal ownership across systems can create more manual reconciliation than the add-on saves.

Transactional email and custom reporting

Transactional email is listed as an add-on using Postmark. Keep receipts, password resets and other operational messages separate from campaign sends when modeling volume and reliability. Verify sender authentication, data retention, deliverability monitoring and whether the relevant automation action is available under the proposed package.

Custom reporting is included in Enterprise and sold separately for Plus and Pro in the vendor's plan overview. Before paying, list the actual decisions the reports need to support. If a report only shows campaign opens and clicks, the built-in campaign reporting may be enough. If it must join revenue, opportunity status and attribution events, check both the report entitlement and the upstream data model.

Is ActiveCampaign billed monthly or annually?

ActiveCampaign supports monthly, annual and, where offered, commit-annually-pay-monthly billing arrangements. Its public plan page emphasizes annual billing, while the account billing page identifies the active cadence and next charge. A monthly-looking amount on an annual plan isn't proof that you can leave after a month.

The vendor's cancellation guidance says a customer on a commit-annually-pay-monthly plan must contact Customer Experience to cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the annual term under that arrangement. Downgrading a tier, reducing the contact limit or removing an add-on also requires contacting Customer Experience.

A procurement review should ask for the exact term, invoice cadence, renewal date, notice requirements, midterm upgrades and any fees or credits when reducing capacity. If the quote contains an annual commitment, compare the full contract value rather than the displayed monthly equivalent.

Does ActiveCampaign offer a free plan or trial?

ActiveCampaign's official plan overview advertises a 14-day free trial. It doesn't present a permanent free Email plan. The help center says the trial is based on its Professional tier, so a trial experience can expose capabilities that aren't included on Starter. Before migrating live workflows, test the features under the paid tier you intend to purchase. The pricing page also advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee with terms behind an asterisk, so read those terms before you rely on it.

Since the trial runs on Pro, you're testing more than Starter includes. Use it to validate one representative workflow end to end. Include the form, consent fields, event trigger, segmentation, email delivery, CRM update and reporting. A trial that only tests the email editor doesn't tell you whether the paid stack can execute a sales handoff reliably.

What would an ActiveCampaign subscription cost for my team?

Build a total-cost estimate from the licensed contact band and the actual workflow. A typical B2B path starts with an ad click and a landing page, moves through form submission and contact creation, then enters an automation. A qualifying event updates the CRM, a salesperson accepts the lead, and the revenue system reports the outcome.

At each handoff, identify the system of record and the evidence that the step worked. A successful email send doesn't prove the form mapped the right campaign source. A created CRM contact doesn't prove sales received an actionable owner and task. These are integration and process checks that can't be solved by moving to a higher subscription tier alone.

CaptureLanding page and form

ActiveCampaign

Breaks when Confirm source tags, consent and field mapping.

NurtureEmail automation

ActiveCampaign

Breaks when Test branches, suppression and send allowance.

HandoffCRM and sales owner

ActiveCampaign

Breaks when Confirm record sync, assignment and acceptance.

VerifyReporting and monitoring

ActiveCampaign

Breaks when Reconcile campaign, contact and CRM outcomes.

If you're comparing marketing platforms, see our HubSpot vs ActiveCampaign comparison and HubSpot Marketing Hub pricing guide.
